Monthly Note

May 1, 2023

May 1, 2023

Spring might just be here in Idaho, just in time for summer.  The markets have been largely flat this month, although it’s not quite the end of the month as I write this, so there is a few days left and the last few days have been a rollercoaster.

Last month I talked a little about the banking “crisis”.  Bank earning reports came in recently and they were about as expected.  A few individual banks are still struggling, but there doesn’t seem to be any widespread weakness or cracks forming.  All things considered the stock market performed admirably through it all.  Tech sector earning reports are due over the coming week and those will be very important for the markets.  I suspect we will continue to see a sluggish market for the next few months, but many analysts are predicting a good close to the year.

May’s monthly webinar will be on social security.  I will be going over how the program works and different strategies to optimize your benefit.  It will be Thursday, May 19th at 10am.  You can register by clicking here

A quick reminder that we are still in the process, and will be a for a few months, of switching everyone over to the new account login system, so if your old login doesn’t work, give us a call you probably missed the emails from us.

I will be out of the country for the first few weeks in June.  Lynn will be in the office the whole time.  I will be reachable and processing routine work, but office appointments will be impossible.  If you need to talk soon, please schedule an appointment before June.

 Sincerely,

Michael Canavan
