Monthly Note
February 1, 2021
Hello,
What a year! The election, COVID-19, the markets it all just seemed surreal to live through. I doubt its over, but at least we get to sign the date a little different. The market seems to be mellowing out and going through some adjustments. I think that’s a bit healthy to see.
If you are confused by everything that is going on with GameStop stock and the media blitz around it, I’d be happy to explain the situation in person or on a phone call with anyone, although some of it is even over my own head. However, it has really no impact on our portfolios or the market as a whole. It will be fascinating (at least to me) to see what comes out of it from a regulatory standpoint. My only word of caution is that I am seeing a lot of misinformation being spread about this event on social media platforms and amongst friends. It will take a while for the truth to come out about exactly what has been going on, but I doubt the truth will be as salacious as what many want to believe.
Going into a New Year and tax season we are very busy in the office. I reached out to many people before the end of the year and am reaching out to everyone at some point in the first quarter. As things come up with taxes, do not hesitate to call with any questions or concerns. I am always happy to take calls, days, evenings, and weekends. With COVID-19 still a concern I will continue to reach out to most folks by telephone, but I am happy to conduct in office appointments as well and we continue to be open every day in the office.
I hope everyone enjoys the rest of winter and stays safe, healthy, and happy.
