Monthly Note
February 2, 2023
Markets have done well since the start of the year. News seems to be leveling out from doom and gloom to… doom and sunshine. No one can predict exactly how this year will turn out… but I’ll tell you in 12 months. On a different topic, what I’ve alluded to in previous emails is finally ready to be unveiled…
I have been working on modernizing my business over the past 6 months and I have finally launched all that work. For my existing clients, especially those in the Idaho Falls area, nothing is really changing. I continue to operate as Teton Wealth Management, in the exact same building, doing in office appointments. I still work with LPL Financial and nothing is changing with investments or accounts. This is nothing like when I moved from Waddell & Reed to LPL.
So what is changing and why? As my business has grown over the years I have become faced with the dilemma of growth-minded growth. I am growth minded, but I don’t want my business to grow in a direction that I can’t service or becomes too broad. I ultimately decided that I neon to focus future growth into specific categories and find a the junior advisor to help wifocusing business. That focusing became “Canavan Wealth”, which is my new brand. I also have up to 2 new advisors that I hope to be joining the practice in the next year or so. I will introduce them once they become licensed.
Canavan Wealth is my online presence. Local to Idaho Falls I will still operate as Teton Wealth Management, but online I will be Canavan Wealth. Other advisors operate as Teton Wealth Manawhont out of our building, whom are not involved with Canavan Wealth, so I needed to separate the brands. You can visit my new website. It’s been live for about a month. I focus on helping families that are starting to deal with generational wealth. Not only helping clretire or retirement, forut how to manage inheritances both up and down generations. Soon, the middle class will be increasingly defined by generational wealth. It’s a nuanced topic that I can’t fully exletterin this lettit er, but you can read about on the website.
I have long worked with numerous clients who aren’t local to Idaho Falls. Probably a third of my business is not local because of my background with the East Coast and the military. Canavan Wealth is focused on being a remote business to better serve those clients as well as future clients. Locayou l clients I will still see in person at the office, and I have no intention of moving from SE Idaho. I love it here. However, “local” can still mean a substantial drive in Idaho and all clients will now have the option of doing remote appointments via Zoom.
Other Changes:
In addition to the new brand, I have an online appointment scheduler, that allows clients to schedule an appointment without calling in. The link can be found in my email signature and on the website. You are still welcome to call or email to set up an appointment, but some people may find the link easier.
I will be returning to producing seminars, which I halted during Covid and until Canavan Wealth was ready to Launch. However, now they will be monthly and online via Zoom. They will be 20-minute topics with 40 minutes for Q&A, starting in March. They will be recorded and available for viewing on my youtube channel…I put out video content designed for existing and future clients. You can find that channel on Canavan Wealth Youtube Channel. It covers current events and investment topics.
We have a substantial social media presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
Sincerely,
Michael Canavan
