Monthly Note

January 1, 2022

Hello!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and is looking forward to 2022. We are hard at work in the office making sure we have everything ready to go and squared away for tax time. It’s always a tight time of the year, but we’re in great shape going into it, so I don’t expect any hang-ups. Although I am not a CPA, don’t hesitate to call with any questions or concerns, especially when tax forms start coming out. It’s easy for me to see everything in the system and I can help you understand whether you have everything yet.

The markets ended the year well after a bit of turmoil through the holidays. Omicron is becoming the dominant variant as expected and cases are surging worldwide, but only time will tell the long-term impact. The US economy still looks strong going into 2022. I suspect and the financial news seems to agree that 2022 will be a bit of a slower year for growth, but the markets never seem to cooperate with predictions. I’ll tell you whether we were right in 12 months.

My son is finishing his junior year hockey season and we have 7 more tournaments before the end of February. That means most Fridays I will be driving to the remote corners of the American West, typically in the middle of a blizzard. It’s a long season, but in less than 2 years it will all be over, and I’ll miss it. I may be slow to respond on Fridays, but I will always get back to you, and I typically have my computer with me.
